What “flat rate” means here (and what it usually means elsewhere)
This is where most of the sticker shock in this industry comes from. A lot of quotes are a base rental price, and then the real bill assembles itself later:

The three things that can change your price
We’re not going to pretend nothing ever moves the number. Three things do, and you can see all three coming.
1. Going over the weight allowance — $70 per ton
Every flat rate includes a weight allowance — 1.5 tons on the 12-yard, 2 tons on the 16-yard. Go over it and the extra is $70 per ton, prorated, based on the actual scale ticket from the disposal facility. No markup games, and we show you the ticket.
For context: most household cleanouts, garage purges, and small remodels don’t come close to the allowance. Furniture, boxes, drywall, and general junk are bulky but light — you’ll almost always run out of space before you run out of weight.
2. Heavy debris — quoted upfront, not billed after
Concrete, dirt, sod, brick, tile, and roofing shingles are a completely different animal. A dumpster of concrete can weigh more than a dumpster of household junk several times over, which is why heavy material gets quoted separately instead of squeezed into a flat rate.
3. Keeping it longer than 7 days
Projects run long — that’s normal, and it’s not a penalty situation. Tell us and we’ll work it out. What we ask is that you call before day seven rather than after, so we can keep the can scheduled properly.
